Note: Students with a preference for several police tasks are not included in this analysis.
To what extent is there a relation between studentsâ job aspiration on the one hand and their learning preferences on the other? Descriptive analyses show that, with the exception of Iceland,2 practical knowledge is preferred over theoretical knowledge in all countries, and this applies to all types of job expectations. However, the gap between a practical and theoretical learning preference is most prominent in Norway and is larger for the students with an operational job aspiration.
In the next step, we performed a linear regression analysis to see if and to what extent we can understand the police studentsâ learning preferences by their job aspiration. Table 6.3 shows the results of this analysis.
