Syncere

Istared at my phone as Dream called me for the third time in less than an hour. I let it go to voicemail just like all the other times she called. I didn’t want to talk right now. I couldn’t. I was in this dark place and was slowly trying to pull myself out of it. It’s been three days, seventeen hours, five minutes, and thirty-six seconds since my brother has been missing. Everything’s been in an uproar since then. We’ve been knocking on doors, questioning mothafuckas, and coming up empty handed. This shit had me so fucked up in the head that I had already killed four people and was contemplating on a few more.

Saint disconnected from everyone and had been busy getting rid of the bodies I had sent to him. Our mother hasn’t slept or eaten in days, crying every day, calling the police station for updates. She’d formed a little search party on her own and had the cops checking abandoned houses, but there was no trace of Samir.

I couldn’t wrap my head around none of this shit. There was no way he just disappeared in thin air. At this point, shit wasn’t looking good, and I think that’s what was really getting to me. I knew finding Samir alive was slim to none. None of this was making any sense. Samir didn’t have any problems or real enemies. We looked into all his friends, the players he had played against, and everybody had mad love for him. They were all heartbroken over him missing. Shit was crazy and frustrating as fuck. I was running off of no sleep and I was tired as hell. However, I needed to keep moving until I found him. My phone began to ring again and this time it was my mother.

I put my truck in drive and decided to head over to my mother’s crib to check her mail and to make sure nothing was out of place. I had a security detail watching the house for the first two days, but called them off when nothing was going on.

Pulling up, I noticed a small package sitting on the porch. I got out and started toward the porch before I froze in my tracks. Looking at the box, there were flies buzzing around it. My heart dropped because that could mean only one thing. I carefully picked the box up and slowly opened it. My knees buckled as I stared down at ten fingers. I knew they belonged to my brother.

The F3 tattoo was a dead giveaway. Myself, Saint, and Samir had gotten tattoos to show love to our mother. I had F1, Saint had F2, and Samir had F3. I couldn’t breathe. My brother was dead. That was the only thing running through my mind. There was no need to check the security cameras because they weren’t working. I had just ordered another system for her house, and it hadn’t come in yet.

I pulled out my burner phone and texted my lieutenant, Shadow, letting him know I needed him to pull up on me.
