REGGIE

Fuck wrong with that dude? He acted like I did something to—

I slid in my car.

He knows.

He knows about Amina and me and that means Tamika knows too. This was gonna fuck up everything. But why didn’t he step to me if that was true? I knew Russo and if he knew I wouldn’t be alive.

I had to get home.

When I made it to the house Tamika was in the living room watching TV and Amina was in the kitchen. I busted a left and sat next to my wife on the sofa.

“What you doing?”

She smiled and kissed me softly on the lips as if everything was okay. “Hey you.”

I tried to look into her eyes to see if I could read her but I was coming up short. This shit was fucking me up. Did she know or not?

“Can I talk to you?”

She sat back. “Sure, Reggie. Is everything cool? You look like something’s heavy on your mind.”

Suddenly I felt Amina staring at me. When I glanced up she was standing in the doorway. “Can I talk to you both?” Amina asked.

My heart thumped.

Please don’t do this, I pleaded with her with my eyes.

Tamika looked at Amina and then at me. “Is everything okay?” She paused. “You guys look serious.”

Amina grinned and walked away.

“What was that about?” Tamika asked me while laughing.

I shrugged.

I knew Amina had intentions on fucking up my world and she was gonna make me bust her in the mouth if she kept playing games. “I wanted to ask if you were good.”

“Reggie,” she nudged my leg. “You asked me that already.”

She was right.

Amina had my head fucked up and had me forgetting shit. Russo too for that matter.

“Have you talked to Russo?”

“Yeah.”

“When?” I frowned.

“Earlier today.”

My stomach jumped. “That’s good.”

“Reggie, you’re scaring me.”

I took a deep breath. “Listen,” I grabbed her hand. “Things may be off but they gonna get better. I’m…I’m making some mistakes but—”

“Reggie,” she put her hand on the side of my face. “I have no doubt that things are gonna work out just right with us.”

“What that mean?”

“It means I love you. And I know you were uncomfortable when I stayed out all night but it’s not because I don’t love you.” She kissed me on the lips and smiled. “Now I’ll be right back.”

What I knew in the moment was this, I couldn’t do life without my wife.

But first I had to get rid of Amina. Which was gonna be easier said than done.
