Miracle Malone

Ivy said a few outfits, her ass bought up the mall. I was grateful for what she did, but I planned on returning every dollar to her. When we got back to the nice ass hotel, she got me a room of my own. I told her that I didn’t mind staying in her room and sleeping on the couch or the floor. I’d slept on worse for almost twenty years. Comfort didn’t mean shit to me, but she insisted.

The first thing I did was ran a bath full of water and soaked in the tub. The water was hot and relaxing as hell. I laid my head back and got lost in my thoughts. I wondered if my son hated me and why my mama just couldn’t be real with me. After what she allowed us to go through, I honestly would have wanted my child in foster care than with her. I was in the tub so long that my skin started to wrinkle. I washed up, stepped out of the tub, and wrapped the plush white towel around me. I sat on the side of my bed and applied lotion, then slid on the pajama set I picked up today at the mall.

Making my way into the sitting area, I picked up my new iPhone 15 Plus and logged into my old Apple ID. I was surprised it still worked; I had to verify my identity, but that was about it. While I was waiting for the apps to download and the phone to back-up to the settings, I made a cup of coffee. Knocking at the door grabbed my attention as I sat down and took a sip of the hot drink. Placing the cup on the table, I strolled over to the door and opened it for Ivy.

“Ma, you can’t just be opening doors without seeing who it is first,” she said, a little irritated.

“Don’t nobody know I’m here but you.” I shrugged and sat back down on the couch.

“What you in here doing anyway?”

“Drinking coffee, about to hop on Facebook and see what I missed all these years.” I chuckled at the look she gave me. Shit, I was forty-two not ninety-two; I knew a little something about social media.

“Mama, what you know about Facebook?” she teased.

“Girl, I ain’t that old, and my shit was popping back in the day. I’m hoping that my son somehow found my page and sent me a message or something. Plus, I’m kinda looking to see what Mago has been up to,” I said, unable to hide my smile. That man still had a special place in my heart. I wasn’t mad that he didn’t come see me and shit; I knew the life he lived.

“I’m glad you brought him up; what’s the plan? You know me and Savage so-called have beef with him,” she told me and fired up a blunt that she pulled from behind her ear.

“Should you be smoking weed, and you are pregnant?” I asked her, also giving her a side eye.
