PING SWEEPS AND NETWORK SCANNING WITH NMAP

We are now going to open up Nmap, my personal favorite program for network mapping and port scanning. This is typically where you start with any kind of security test, particularly with regard to remote attacks.

Say we have a large network that we need to test. The first step is to discover how many hosts are on this network so we can have our pick of the litter when selecting which host(s) we want to attack.
