Chapter Eight

The beast inside him couldn’t take it anymore. It needed her. It needed their mate.

Oliver bent and lifted Kiera in his arms. She felt too light, as if she were completely empty from her work rescuing him. He couldn’t have been more grateful. Hearing her voice on the other end of the darkness had saved him. He should have known she would be his mate, he should have seen it earlier.

But, Oliver was a bit of an idiot. He’d been self-absorbed and pitied himself while she was trying to help him. If he’d let go of the memories, if he’d looked past them at all, he would have seen what she was to him the whole time.

No one said a word as he carried her out of the room. The other dragons were already picking up the mess his power had made. He couldn’t wait any longer.

“I need to fuck you,” he whispered, his voice hoarse.

“Oh,” he got in return. The scent of her arousal filled the air around him, an answer to itself. His hands travelled up the back of her legs, fondling her ample rear. She made a small sound, attempting to muffle it until he neared the door of his small cabin.

Once he kicked the door open, his focus narrowed in on the bed. It was small, meant for only one person, but it would do.

“Say it again,” Oliver growled. His hands were tight on Keira, unable to let her go.

“Say what?” she asked, her voice breathy. She was already thinking about the bed in the room, about what it meant.

“Say you love me.”

She slid down his body, her feet hitting the floor. Along the way, she brushed the evidence of his urgent desire. His erection was harder than anything he’d felt before. It begged and pleaded for the woman in his arms, so much that it was hard for him to think. The beast owned him body and mind and all it wanted was one thing.

“I don’t respond to demands,” Keira whispered before brushing a kiss along his lips.

He growled and gripped her tighter. He yanked her closer to his body and claimed her mouth. Her lips parted to let him in, his tongue exploring her mouth. Her mouth tasted as sweet as he remembered, but he needed to know what the rest of her body tasted like.

“Tease.” Oliver pushed her back. He wanted to hear the words again. Was it so wrong that he needed to know he hadn’t dreamed it all? That it wasn’t some trick of his mind after what had happened?

His life had been ripped away from him, however bad it’d been. Then, he’d nearly lost the rest of himself. Oliver had the idea he was falling for the witch for a while, but he never thought he’d find a mate. Now, she stood before him, wriggling away from his touch.

Mate.

She was his.
