I ignore my brothers as we head into Church, taking my seat and scowling down at the table top. I’m still half hard. A few things have become very clear for me, and I don’t know how much I like it.

“So the warrant was fake,” Shadow says. “Wish we had been able to get ahold of that paper to see just what they were trying to pass off.”

There’s a murmur of agreement. “But what about the other two? The local cops?” I ask with a frown.

Dad lets out a low snarl. “Those fuckers are going to pay for touching Rose.”

“Personally, I think you should let Mom and the women handle them,” King chuckles. “What you do won’t be half as bad as what they’ll do once they start plotting.”

“Your mother would enjoy jail far too much,” Dad sighs. “You really want her recruiting new Coven members from the pen?”

Everyone winces. Then Viper laughs and says to Shadow, “Your bail account would need to be huge.”

Shadow gives a mock shudder. “Don’t remind me. I’m already saving money for Macy’s.”

“Alright, we’re getting off topic,” Dad says briskly, but his lips are twitching at the mention of Shadow’s little girl. “Cryos, were you able to figure out how the cops got involved and who they are?”
