VOLUNTEERS

Another way to get involved with IRONMAN requires no training at all and yet, it is a vital part of every race. Volunteers help with almost all aspects; including at aid stations, in construction, in medical facilities, with security, on the bike course, in transition areas, at registration, on the finish line, in post-race supplies, at credentials checks, in information and at the warehouse. Experienced volunteers with a talent for organization and good social skills, not to mention a true love for the event, can be captains who help coordinate volunteer teams to be efficient and successful.

The duties on the actual day of the race are vast. Volunteers distribute food and beverages at aid stations; carry supplies; fill, hand out and pick up water bottles; operate radios and telephones; hand out sponges; assist in getting equipment out to transition areas; massage the athletes and much more. Many doctors, nurses and paramedics from all over the world also donate their time to staff critical medical facilities. The volunteers are at the very core of what IRONMAN represents – they are a prized group of people who give their time and talents to help others achieve life-changing goals.
