Rumor
I sat on the edge of the bed and tried to find a reason to feel happy. We had only been here for two days, but everything felt so off without Remee. Even if we werenât together, I was just so used to him being around. I knew it was probably good for me to be away from him, become independent and love myself. All the BS that they say on talk shows and in self-help groups. But AâRemee was a part of me, not just a man I be fucking on, but my friend, my champion. Instead of getting up, I laid across the end of the bed and stared at the wall. I didnât even bother to wipe my tears, just let them fall. I didnât know if crying was helping me feel better or not, but this was what I was doing. Someone knocked on my door, but I didnât respond, I just needed a few minutes. Or maybe longer to get my emotions in check.
Suddenly my bedroom door flung open, and I was cursing myself out for not locking it when I came back from checking on Laya. âThis the shit you doing now Ru, wow. Sit the fuck up shorty we need to talk, this shit been overdue, I just been letting you make it.â I looked up to see Cahir in front of me a mean mug on his face. I sighed internally; he was the last person I wanted to deal with today.
Slowly I sat up and wiped my face. I really didnât know what to say, so I remained quiet. Cahir was a loose cannon, and you never knew what was about to go down when he was involved.
âRu, stop crying ma. That little nigga coming back for you, thatâs my word shorty. He aint never leaving ya ass alone. I know my cousin like I know my damn self. Stop doing all this to yourself when you aint got to. You still getting bread, right?â I nodded slowly. Money was the least of my problems. That shit appeared in my bank account like clockwork, as well as in Layaâs bags when she came home from her grandmaâs. But that wasnât what I needed. âI know money donât mean nothing in the long run but believe me to a man it means everything. Itâs the thing we have that represents power and strength. And when we chose to give it to a woman, especially large amounts, it means something.â
âAll that sappy bullshit out the way. If you ever in your fucking life get up one day and decide to run ya little nappy-headed ass away, with Laya or without. Iâm coming to find you and fucking you up. Straight whooping you wit my belt like a child who stole something. And I donât want to hear a reason why. I donât give a fuck honestly. You got all of us out here worried and shit, had my aunt stressed the fuck out and had my little cousin in a bad situation.
