Wynter sat at her hotel room’s desk while scouring the internet looking for two bedroom apartments. Now that things had settled with Kiss’s mother’s funeral, she could focus on her impending divorce. She couldn’t wait to get rid of Maddox for good.

She emailed several apartment complexes about setting up tours to view their properties. She didn’t want to keep wasting money on the hotel even though she was looking to make a lot of money while working for Sayeed’s company.

While she looked for a new home, Sayeed called her, tearing her attention away from house-hunting.

“Hello,” she greeted.

“Are you back in town?” He asked.

“I am.”

“Are you ready to leave again?”

“When were you thinking?” She asked, barely able to contain the fact that she wanted him.

“Friday? That’ll give you two days to unwind from the funeral. How was it by the way?”

“It was okay. My sister is doing better, I think. I just want to find us a place because this hotel living is getting old,” she replied.

“You do know who you’re talking to,” he spoke. His deep voice filled her ear, relaxing her as she adjusted the phone so that she could hear him better.

“What do you mean?” She asked.

“I’m the real estate king. You need a place? Let me hook you up.”

“Oh no. That’s way too much. I can’t ask you to do something like that for me.”

“You didn’t ask. I’m offering.”

“No. See when men give you shit like that, they think you owe them the world. I do not want to make that mistake again,” she rebutted. She had already been down that road with Maddox. She had always felt indebted to Maddox since it was his family’s business that provided her with the job of her dreams. She didn’t want to go through that with another man.

“Listen, I can get you and your sister your own apartments. And if you got a problem with it being free, then we can work out something so that it’s affordable to you. I have some nice buildings in my portfolio. Choose one and I’ll see if there are vacancies,” he responded.

“Did you not hear me? I don’t want to be indebted to anyone. I can’t take you up on your offer. I’m sorry. I’ll find my own place,” she replied.

“You’re stubborn as fuck,” Sayeed laughed.

“No boo, it’s called setting boundaries,” she responded. She hadn’t set firm enough boundaries with Maddox which is why he walked all over her and beat her. She had learned her lesson and wasn’t going to make those mistakes with Sayeed.

“Aight, beautiful. I respect it. So, for Friday you can meet me at the Thurnbrow airport. It’s a small airport where only private planes fly. I’ll send you all the details,” he spoke.

“Okay. I’m looking forward to it,” she replied.

“Talk to you later,” he said before hanging up.

A smile spread across her face as she thought about what their weekend in New York would be like. She didn’t know why she was smitten with him but she couldn’t wait to spend time with him.
