Now, in any other situation, this might be a dream come true. I mean, I’d been a side nigga before, banging chicks with husbands and boyfriends. But they always ended up clingy and wanting to leave their men for me. I hated when they forgot the rules of the game. But Dr. Rose wanted something like that, and I was ready to go off on her ass. I had plans for her to be my ol’ lady, and she up here saying shit that was finna make me pull a Tre on her.

“So, now you too good for me? You wasn’t when you had them thick ass thighs spread all under my mouth on your desk!”

It was a low blow, but shit.

She blushed. “That is unnecessary. And it’s not about being too good for you. Ty, do you realize what I did for JB could lose me my license? What if you got in trouble, and we were in a relationship? The cops could follow you here and ruin any chance I have of achieving my goals. I’ve worked too hard and I owe too much to my parents and myself. Put yourself in my shoes.”

I wasn’t in no mood to consider her perspective. Her bougie ass didn’t think I was worth the risk? Didn’t wanna be my ride or die? Fuck it. I shrugged.

“You want your back banged out? I can put you in the rotation, ma,” I told her.

“You don’t have to be so crude,” she whispered.

“Just let me know when you ready. I gotta go handle some shit before tonight. Here,” he handed me his phone. “Save your number. Maybe I won’t have to pop up on you again.” She did as I asked. I texted her so she’d have mine.

“You want coffee?” she offered.

I shook my head. “I’m out, ma.”

My mind was busy as I pushed my Aventador Roadster across the city. I had almost defended myself and my lifestyle to Briar. I’ma tell y'all something that my brothers ain't really taken the time to discuss. We been so focused on talking about our street side, that you don't know the other part of our lives. Yeah, my Pops made the beginnings of his money in the game. He's a born hustler. But he also got business sense. We owned car dealerships, an advertising firm, a popular cleaning service, a luxury bed-and-breakfast, two salons, and three barbershops. Pops also flipped houses, and Mama was a realtor for upscale properties. They were looking into starting a restaurant in hopes of building a fancy chain.

That’s just the shit I can list off the top of my head. And even though my siblings and I balled out of control, my parents insisted all of us get an education. Tripp and Tre already had their Bachelors and I know once shit settled down, they were thinking about Masters. I was a year away from my Biochemistry degree, and I wanted to be a Pharmacist--no drugs jokes. The twins were approaching their senior year.
