Dalton

Dalton couldn’t sleep. It was a problem he had from time to time, but not one he’d encountered for a while, not since Connor had met Molly. He sighed, giving up on his bed altogether as he strode toward the window. Like all of the senior level apartments in this place, Dalton had the luxury of a huge room, and a large panorama of the city. The London skyline was beautiful, or, it should have been beautiful, if only he could focus on the view.

All he could think about was Delilah and when he closed his eyes, he swore he could still see her in front of him. The touch of her small fingers against his body, the scent of her perfume and the tantalizing taste of her cunt. The little firecracker was such an enigma. She had managed to get completely under his skin in no time at all, and even though they’d fucked, his appetite for Delilah was nowhere close to satiated.

He shook his head as he wandered toward the nearby decanter and poured himself a whiskey. He really should stop drinking so much, especially at this time of the night, but tonight he was past caring. Every time he tried to sleep Delilah popped into his mind, her smile taunting him as it roused his cock. It was vexing, the amount of power the petite redhead had over him. Lifting the glass to his lips, Dalton inhaled the sweet scent of liquor, wondering if Delilah had bewitched him somehow.

“That’s bullshit,” he whispered to himself before he sipped at the whiskey.

The warmth and flavor of the drink slipped down his throat, trailing a line of burning heat into his chest.

“She’s just a woman. She’s no one.” But even Dalton didn’t believe the words that left his lips.

If she were just a woman, then why was she on his mind?

Dalton could get sexual gratification any time he wanted. All he had to do was go downstairs to Diablo and he knew Amy would be waiting. It didn’t make sense. What made Delle so special, and why had he invited her back here tomorrow?

Sighing, he drained the remainder of the tumbler. His instincts had told him there was something suspicious about Delilah right from the get-go, so why hadn’t he trusted them? Dalton knew how stupid it was to ignore his gut. It was rarely wrong about things.

He stalked toward his cell phone, switching on the device and calling Diablo. It rang three times before Carter picked up.

“Diablo.” He sounded knackered.

“Hey, Carter,” Dalton started. “It’s Dalton. Can you do me a quick favor?”

“Reilly?” Dalton imagined Carter’s puzzled expression in his mind’s eye. “Sure, what is it?”

“Remember those two girls from last night?”

“Christ yes,” Carter answered. “I don’t think I’ll ever forget them.”

“Right.” Dalton stretched his lithe body as he turned back toward the London skyline. “I can relate.”

“What about them, Dalton?”

“I pulled their files last night. They should be in my folder on the laptop. Can you email them my way?”

“Of course,” Carter replied.
