Stormy.

Their first not by the water was hard to quantify, but somehow stormy fits. The only thought that entered her head as her body shook under the heavyweight of a hundred different emotions and feelings. Until it culminated in a bursting dam that almost rendered her immobile for several minutes, her loud cry was surely meant to send people rushing to find her dead body. It was kinda embarrassing to think about now.

Hale hadn’t lied, though. No one came to investigate what they were doing. Right now, she was the only one who knew that she had just made love to her best friend—the man who had always been there for her no matter what.

It was an intimacy that neither of them would have entertained before now. She put herself out there, and there was no way to shield herself from getting burned.

Hale made her feel like a vixen as he explored her body and pushed it beyond its limits for ecstasy. He pulled the orgasm from her body like it was his prize trophy.

But it wasn’t until he had carried her back up the stone steps in his arms that she felt like this was more than another Saturday evening for him. Yet, neither of them was in the position to focus on that in the moment. She was more interested in being doted on.

A request that he was more than willing to give in to as they fell asleep together in the same bed.

She woke up the next day to find him mysteriously absent.

The calm after the storm.

She’d spent her entire relationship with Hale trying to avoid this tumultuous storm because she knew that she would only get caught up in it. Too eager to allow it to sweep her away in a way that she had never achieved with Jaime.

Her and Jaime weren’t exactly strangers. They successfully went on a couple of vacations together. She had undoubtedly slept with him on said vacations. He knew her dress size. Yet, she had gotten lost in the tornado that was Hale—allowed herself to be given over to a man that truly knew her down to her toes. They were nothing alike, but he got her in a way that never needed to be explained.

Naomi swung her feet over the side and caught the note taped to the lamp on the bedside table:

Called into work early. See you there.

She sucked her tongue. A part of her was upset that he wasn’t here to talk about last night, but the more rational part of her was relieved.

How was last night a good idea at all?

She’d given in to an unbridled passion with Hale that she’d told many didn’t exist. This desire to be underneath him. To give in to her more debaucherous nature and test him out in the best way.

Now she had a taste and had to throw away the rest of the cake. As if she were on some forced diet. She’d ignore how it felt to feel him sliding into her, teasing moans from her lips.
