Chapter Twelve

I was crushed watching my wife break down in front of me. To hear all the shit, she knew about my affair and openly admit why she did what I did, had me at a loss for words. I always say she pushed me into the arms of another woman and here, it’s the exact opposite this time. I was real fucked up when she mentioned the insecurities about her body from the scars. Yea, there was a mark but it didn’t bother me. I still loved her body and instead of showing her, she allowed another man, to touch what was only mine.

I hated she was so carefree after hearing I killed him. She’s right about leaving me the clues. I saw the messages on her phone and clicked on the phone number. I had it traced and found out his address and come to find out, he’s a bouncer in one of my clubs. Its crazy because Arnold and I took the ride to Maryland in the morning and was back by nightfall.

I had the manager call a meeting at the club and everyone had to come. It didn’t take me long to recognize who he was because I made everyone introduce themselves. Afterwards, I had him come outside to speak with me. He got in the car and I asked if he knew Promise.

He was surprised to know she was my wife and apologized over and over. It was too late in my eyes. Arnold and I stomped him out, tied him up, put a block of cement at the bottom of his legs and drove out to the Chesapeake river and tossed him over. A guy I knew, held the traffic both ways for a good twenty minutes and it was back to business.

Now, I’m sitting on my couch staring at these divorce papers she handed me. When I first realized what they were, I ran out the house and she was pulling off. I called my mom and she gave me an earful and hung up. Promise could do no wrong in her eyes, so I didn’t expect the conversation to flow any differently. I hit Arnold up and he was shocked. He said Stella never told him. I asked if he really thought she would. Those two are thick as thieves and they had both of our moms routing them on. I hung up with him and went upstairs to shower. I noticed the lock on our bedroom door and got angry. I kicked it open and felt like shit again.

The entire bedroom was renovated and the furniture was brand new. I have no idea when she had it done, but not being home makes you miss a lot. I stared at the fake rose petals on the bed in shape of a heart. There were his and her robes hanging on the bathroom door. I looked on the dresser and there was a bottle of champagne with flute glasses next to them. I picked the card up next to it.
