Dejah
âIknow this nigga ainât honking for you to come outside?â Mama complained as Shawnie pulled up.
âHe only does that because he knows you donât like him.â I tried to not roll my eyes as I slipped on my sandals to leave.
âCall him and tell him to come in here, Dejah. You ainât no easy ho.â
âOkay, Mama.â I dialed Shawnieâs number. âBabe, my mom wants you to come in real quick.â
âSo she can cuss me out?â Shawnie replied, and I could hear him killing the engine.
âPlease?â
âOnly because I love you.â
I was smiling so hard my mom was looking at me like I had lost my mind. âOkay.â I damn near ran to the front door to let Shawnie in.
Iâd been feeling Shawnie since my friend, Shanice, showed me a picture of him. I didnât care if he was prison. I was even the one that picked him up from the prison. We got a room for two days, and Iâd been hooked ever since. There was dick, and then there was just got out of the pen dick. I swore I had a limp for two weeks.
But no matter how much I tried, Shawnie couldnât see me as the girl that really loved him. He was fucking all kind of bitches, and my stupid ass still loved him. I really thought I was going to lose him when his ex popped up in the picture. And I didnât even know what had transpired between them, but I was happy that I not only Shawnie chose me, but he left all his bitches alone too.
I wasnât no hater, and if it didnât work out with Shawnie and he wanted to go back to his ex-girlfriend, I would be hurt. I wouldnât try to fight her or try to make Shawnieâs life miserable. I wouldâve just moved on.
âBabe, can Jaya use your bathroom real quick?â Shawnie opened the door with his cousin standing next to him.
I have to admit that I wasnât the biggest fan of Shawnieâs cousin. I thought that she was another one of the bitches he was fucking at first. But I learned that she was actually his blood relative. Itâs not that I didnât like her. I just didnât know her, and I felt like she was more team Keisha. Shawnie said that she and Keisha had been friends since they were in kindergarten. Now how the fuck was I going to compete with that?
âYeah, sure.â I smiled. âHow you doing, Jaya?â
âIâm good. This baby stay on my bladder though.â Jaya rubbed her nonexistent stomach.
âHi, Ms. Tomika,â Shawnie spoke to my mother as I was giving Jaya directions to the bathroom.
âHi. Nice to meet you,â Jaya spoke up as well to my mom before heading to the bathroom.
âYou do realize that Dejahnae,â my mom spoke my full name, âainât no play thing, JaShawn?â
Fuck. Here she goes.
âOf course, maâam.â Shawnie stood, not feeling the heat from my motherâs interrogation.
âSo what is your intentions with my daughter?â Mama scooted to the end of the couch like she was couldnât wait to hear what Shawnie had to say.
