Time has crept by, but the day of the celebration has finally arrived, and I am eager to see my linaya. The humans wanted a dance—a ball, they called it—to mark the celebration. Balls are an old Earth tradition, apparently. As I stand on the balcony overlooking the large, open room, I scan the crowd for Talia. I chose this vantage point specifically so that I could locate her the moment she arrives.

Below me, floor to ceiling windows line the far wall. We chose this space because it has a gorgeous view of the deep blue ocean. A floating chandelier above casts a soft glow throughout the entire space, highlighting the intricate tile inlay on the floor, depicting great swirling images of the sea.

Everything is open and airy and the crisp saline breeze drifts up from the ocean below. Noralla oversaw the decorations, choosing intricately carved tables, chairs and furnishings that have not been used since the last great peace gathering here many cycles ago.

A long table off to the side is overflowing with food and drinks. Tall, fluted crystal glasses and silver trays of food are spread out in a beautiful display. I hope the humans are pleased with our efforts. More specifically, I hope that Talia enjoys it most of all. Perhaps she will be further enticed to accept me when she sees our castle decorated at its finest.

My hearts tap a frantic beat as I consider what I will tell her. I worry that she will reject me again, but I know I must try. She is mine. I am certain; I need only convince her. I am a patient male, and I will wait as long as she needs to accept me, for I know that I could never love another as I love her.

This great hall is typically reserved for Clan-wide feasts and banquets, but this day, a large space in the middle of the floor has been cleared so that the humans may dance. A beautiful melody played on stringed instruments drifts up from below.

Although we prefer to keep mostly to ourselves, my planet still deals with other races in the Galactic Federation Council. Through a vid feed connection, we obtained various samples of music for the humans to choose from. Varus and Raidyn said their mates were delighted when they listened to the selection.

I spot Lilliana dancing with her mate, their movements so synced that they practically glide across the floor, spinning and whirling in an intricate display of give and take. King Raidyn does the same with his mate Skye nearby.

Once again, jealousy batters at my chest as I think of Talia. I wish more than anything that she would agree to be mine.

The humans are clothed in elaborate robes they call dresses. In all my travels off-world, I have never seen designs such as these. The robes are so different from anything a Drakarian might wear. Varus said the tailors were excited to create a new style of clothing.

The females each wear floor-length, flowing dresses of silkara that gather at the waist and flare at the hip.
