Chapter Eight.

Manny

His phone rang, and he grabbed it before answering. He looked down at Andi as she rolled over and snuggled into his duvet.

“Hello?” he whispered.

“Manny?” an unknown female voice asked.

“Yeah?”

“This is Isabelle. I’m trapped, and someone’s following me. I am scared.”

Manny shot out of bed, careful not to disturb Andi.

“Where are you?”

Manny listened as Isabelle gave directions.

“Stay where you are. You’ll hear a Harley. That will be me. Did you get a hold of Inglorious?”

“He’s not answering!” Isabelle whispered with clear fear in her voice.

“I’m on my way. Just stay hidden until I arrive. If he finds you, run and keep moving and hiding.”

“Okay.” Her phone disconnected, and Manny cursed. Maybe he should have kept her on the line. He was dressed and out the door within seconds. His Harley roared out of the compound moments later as he rushed to save the girl whose parents he’d allowed to be killed.
