I tend to prefer the -ms-autohiding-scrollbar value which ensures that the user realizes that they can pan around the content of the element, but uses scrollbars which are overlaid on top of the content and which are only displayed when the user is interacting with the content. By contrast, the scrollbars applied by the scrollbar value adds to the size of the element and are always displayed. You can see the difference in Figure 17-13. The image on the left of the figure shows the effect of the -ms-autohiding-scrollbar value and the one of the right shows the scrollbar value.
