I could be James Bond right now, sneaking into Julian’s home and trying not to get caught. Except, James Bond is still calm and collected when he’s been drinking alcohol. I could never have that self awareness, especially when the tequila is in charge right now.

Closing the door as silently as possible behind me, I wait until I hear the little click, before making my way to the kitchen. My eyes peek in Julian’s office as subtle as the tequila will let me, and frown as I notice he’s not there. I saw his car in the drive, so I know he’s home somewhere. If he isn’t in his office, he’s in his room.

A wave of relief encompasses me as I realize I won’t be crossing Julian’s path this evening, and I don’t need to worry about making any drunken mistakes.

I tiptoe into the kitchen, taking in the calm and silent state of the room. It’s a completely different contrast compared to the mornings. The kitchen is the busiest place the second the clock hits seven in the morning. With cooks and cleaners darting around like they won’t get paid if they’re a second behind schedule; everything is on time and prepared with the utmost care.

Opening the fridge, a gust of cool air brushes my already warm cheeks, cooling them slightly. I fall in love with the feeling, desperately shutting and reopening the fridge door multiple times to feel the heavenly cool breeze. I debate sitting myself in the fridge for the blissful coldness, but my attention is suddenly locked onto the empanadas on the bottom shelf.

Wasting no time, I dive my hand in and grab the tray of the delicious food that reminds me of half my nationality. Deciding I’m going to sit down at the never used dining table, I stroll over and take a seat at the head of the table. My teeth sink into the pastry as I bring one to my mouth and begin chewing, noting the beef, potato, carrot and peas inside. I can't stop my eyes from closing and my voice box from releasing a moan of satisfaction. Empanadas are the best drunk food option a girl could choose from.

Before I realize it, six empanadas somehow work their way into my stomach. I’m tempted to go for more, but I don’t know who they were made for and I don’t want to eat all the goods. I think they’ll notice some are missing, but hopefully they can be thankful I left them some. I could’ve gone hard and eaten them all.

Now I can no longer hear my chewing, I soak in the silence as I sip my bottle of water. I struggle to enjoy the peacefulness because I know it doesn’t last long in this house. It turns into awkwardness and uncomfortably hiding in my room. But the complete quietness in the house tells me Julian is asleep, and because of that, I can relax, for now, without worrying I’ll awkwardly bump into him.
