One important statistical note: With the loss, the Eagles dropped to the No. 2 seed in the NFC. The Vikings held the tiebreaker over Philadelphia. Postscript: After beating the Eagles, the Seahawks were thought to be very much alive in the playoff picture. And no team wanted to go to Seattle in the postseason, especially the Eagles. “Everybody was ready to count us out,” said Wilson.

But it turned out to be a mirage. The Seahawks lost three of the next four games and finished 9–7, out of the money. Wentz was right. Seattle had been ripe for the taking. But the Eagles gave it away.
