It is the color of a crayon so bright, it fills my mind with daffodils and canaries.

As the perfect day for my yellow umbrella comes to an end, I tuck it in and put it to bed for the night.

I sleep, sleep, sleep.

I dream of all of life’s possibilities.

Laughter awakens me. It is morning.

I open my heart. I open my mind.

I open my yellow umbrella.

Although CHRIS ROBERTSON doesn’t own a yellow umbrella, that didn’t stop him from creating a book about one.

“My Yellow Umbrella” was inspired by the spirit of Albert Lamorisse’s 1956 short film, “The Red Balloon,” the environmental artist Christo and his magnificent yellow umbrella landscape exhibit in the fall of 199, and the work of Amy Krouse Rosenthal and her Beckoning of Lovely project and short film.
