CHAPTER FIFTEEN

Mack

I run my hand through my hair and let out a deep breath.

I did not think this through.

Sure, in theory, it’s not the worst idea in the world… but now that she’s here, wearing that skin-tight dress and those god damn over-the-knee boots, I’m not so sure about my genius plan after all.

She’s in my bathroom right now doing lord only knows what, and all I can think about is fucking her against the shower door.

I’ve got about a hundred missed calls from William, and one text from Gilly, which simply said ‘you’re fucked, bro… voodoo pussy’.

I shake my head at the man I call a best mate, but the way she’s looking… hell, maybe he might be onto something after all.

I hit dial on my boss’s number and wait for him to pick up the call.

“What the fuck are you doing?” he demands.

“Hello to you too,” I drawl.

“Cut the shit, Mack. Where the fuck is she?”

He might be my boss, but he sure as hell is getting on my nerves. Nobody speaks to me like that and gets away with it for long.

“I have her under control.”

“Where?” he snaps at me. “I want to know exactly where that little bitch is.”

I narrow my eyes and fight to keep my voice even. He might not be able to see me right now, but if looks could fucking kill…

I don’t know what the hell this debacle is all about, but I know one thing – William is keeping secrets. I’m sure Kinsley is too, but maybe he’s the one I need to be wary of, more so than the stunning raven-haired woman in my house.

Whatever the situation, Kinsley isn’t a bitch, and he won’t get the chance to speak about her like that again. He only gets the one strike when it comes to her.

My jaw ticks as I contemplate answering him. “I have her at my house with me.”

He’s silent for a beat. “Are you fucking my stalker?”

“Not that it’s any of your business, but no. I’m not.” Not yet anyway.

“This isn’t right, Mack.”

“She was going to crash the party, boss. It was either let her go and wait for her to strike, let her into your house for a chat with you and your wife, or do what I did, and eliminate the threat. You should be thanking me that I’m doing this on my own time.”

“You can’t keep her locked up forever. She’ll be back.”

I don’t doubt that, but hopefully when I finally do get to the bottom of this, it won’t be in front of a few hundred people.

“She will. Maybe if you wanted to tell me what the deal is with you two, I could work on making the problem go away.”

He doesn’t reply.

“Let me do my job, Will.”

He’s quiet still, and just when I’m about to give up and end the call, he speaks. “Has she told you what she wants with me?”

I don’t miss the nervous edge to his voice.

“No,” I answer curtly
