Passwords

10: LastPass (iPhone, iPad, Android, Kindle Fire)

This well-loved password managing software is now available on a range of mobile platforms. In fact, it has been given a new look for the latest versions of iOS and Android. This is one that works on all of the devices covered in the book, making it a great choice for those who move from one gadget to another throughout the day.

At its roots, LastPass allows users to create completely unique passwords, manage those which are already made, and access them in a flash. Since the app syncs between devices, you will be able to use your passwords wherever you go. That is certainly a long way from keeping important passwords scribbled down in the back of a pocket notebook; or worse still, on a napkin or some other easily lost scrap of paper.

Some users have claimed that the interface on the iPhone version of the app is a little awkward. However, regular updates tend to smooth this type of thing out. If you already have a LastPass account, you can just log into whatever mobile app you want to begin using. Otherwise, you’ll need to create yourself a brand new “master” password. This will be the digital key keeping all of your other passwords secure. Make sure that you take careful measures to make one that is strong.
