Chapter Nineteen

Raquelle slipped out of bed, stretched, and headed for the shower. On her way, she passed a tented note on a tray with coffee and a ceramic mug with a hand-painted elephant on it. The card was in the most beautiful handwriting she had ever seen.

Malen’kiy,

You were exquisite last night and beyond my expectations. I think you enjoyed my rope and you’re a natural at it. I only want you to feel when you’re with me.

There is an old Russian game called I know five.

I know five things about Raquelle:

Beautiful

Talented

Gracious

Loved

Fierce

I had to go to the office today and get some work done. Jonas is on call for you should you need to go anywhere. The windows on the car are blacked out so you should be safe from headaches.

I’m only a push of a button away. Please don’t hesitate to call. If you need your art supplies, they are still here.

Don’t overdo it today. That’s an order ;)

Misha

XX-one for each cheek, X-for your forehead

It was as if this man had fallen out of the sky to take care of all her needs. She needed to remember to tread carefully while she was spying on him. It would be so easy to get caught up in everything he had to offer. She had allowed him to take a peek inside her, and she’d given in to his seduction. He had taken control from her and it felt good. Her feelings were more conflicted than ever but she couldn’t build the bridge between sex and deceit. Those tools weren’t in her arsenal. As she placed the note into her purse, her phone rang.

“Hey, Mac.”

“How are you feeling?” he asked.

“A lot better. He takes really good care of me.” Anger boiled up.

Mac’s sigh was audible. “I know this is hard. Please hang in there until we get this resolved. I actually like the guy too. But looks can be deceiving. I need you to turn on the phone I gave you for a couple of hours. I’ll let you know when to turn it off.”

“Yeah, Yeah. I need this to be over with. Capisci?” Spying had its ups and downs, like being at the top of the highest hill on a roller coaster, anticipating the fall.

“Understood. And thank you. According to Dean, I don’t say that enough. I’ll be in touch.” He clicked off.

She reached for the other phone in her bag and turned it on, placing it on the nightstand. The phone was identical to her own except for a small black mark by the headset hole. Despite an achy head and wrist, her body felt great. A Misha-induced orgasm was the cure to what ailed her.

She needed go to her studio. Painting was her soul food. A week had past since she put paint to canvas. Creativity was the life force running through her veins. She imagined it was the same with any artist: passion took over your life as you pursued the ultimate piece.

Jonas was double-parked outside, waiting for her and Titus.
