Applications

One can go on to what are called applications, which bring the Technique into simple activities. To work with applications one must continue to minimize one’s reliance on ‘doing and feeling’ because feeling can only be relied upon when it is reliable. Thus, in order to work with applications, one must already have a grasp of the primary control and more reliable sensory appreciation.

Many applications have been explored in detail in Judith Leibowitz’s book on the Technique. Applications involve the simplest actions such as reaching, gesturing, bending, turning the head or the trunk, stepping, carrying light items, sitting or standing with the hands on a table top, speaking, holding a pen, leaning, pulling on a handle, turning a dial, pushing an object and other basic activities in the context of which one can practice the fundamentals of the Technique.
