“One time, anybody in that house has one time to say anything out the way and I’m not holding back.” River announced to me when we both got out of our cars

The end of spring was peaking just around a few corners because the sunlight would stay out longer. I had a long sleeve bodysuit, it was yellow with a low v-cut in the front. I wore my light wash skinny jeans with some yellow and white New Balance gym-shoes on. River was still in his work clothes, but he had his coveralls hanging off him. The black basic t-shit he had on was tight and you could see his muscles on his chocolate arms.

“I know, the same goes with me too, I won’t hold back on any damn body.” I mean that, I even left my purse and phone in the car just in case. I only had the form and a writing pen in my hand.

We walked on the porch, and I used my key to let myself in. When I turned the knob, it didn’t work, and I chuckled.

“She changed the locks.”

River shook his head chuckling too, I knocked on the door twice.

“Winnie! Hi sweet girl!” Annie opened the door, let us in and hugged me.

I hugged her back and was so glad to see her, Annie was mom’s nurse from the state. She loved her job which was why she continued working her plus mom didn’t think to try to be rude to her like she did the other nurses.

“Hi! It’s great to see you, you remember River.”

He spoke to her, and she gave him a surprisingly hug.

“How could I forget his handsome face, the way he stands for you is loving. That brother of yours River is definitely a different breed.”

“I’m gone always stand for her.” River told Annie then he kissed my forehead. “And as far as my brother, he can be a lot but it’s outta love.”

I knew I was flushed from his gesture. “Is she up, I need her to sign this, and we can leave.”

Annie turned her lips up when she pointed to mama’s door. “She back there, eating so her mood should be good.”

Me and River walked down the long hall to her room, you could smell the Chinese food before I reached her door. I knocked and she yelled for me to come in. Even that little bit, you can tell she was out of breath. When I opened the door, she was sitting on her bed propped up. Her oxygen was in her nose, she had a purple shirt on and some stretch pants. Mom was bigger, if I could guess I would say she’s at least 700lbs if not a little higher. Her hair was in a ponytail, I wasn’t here to braid it anymore and my sisters couldn’t braid.

“All I have to do is hit this button and the police will be here!” She started yelling already when she saw River with me.

“Bring that shit down before you make that damn tank blow up.
