With a towel wrapped around his waist, Ryker stood in the closet adorned with men’s apparel. Though he and Neily shared a room, the closets were massive and separate. Like a his-and-her setup. He looked at the tags, noting the exorbitant prices, and let out a slow whistle in response.

“And they’re my size. Eli really outdid himself,” he said to himself.

There was a light knock on the door, and he turned to see who it was.

“Dinner will be served on the veranda in five minutes.” Gerard looked at the plain T-shirt in Ryker’s hand, then to the rows of clothing to choose from. “Miss Dalton has already arrived and looking quite stunning.”

Ryker took the hint and put the shirt down, reaching for a cream linen-like set, noting the grin it brought to Gerard’s expression and the simple nod he offered in response.

“Thanks, Gerard,” he said, holding up the outfit with a soured look. “This isn’t exactly my kind of attire.”

“You’re in Cayman, man. It’s the right attire. I think you’ll agree when you see your lady,” Gerard said. “Is there anything I can do in the meantime while you finish dressing? Anything I can prepare for you?”

Ryker began to shake his head and quickly halted. “You know…I could really go for a beer. Got that around here? I don’t mean fancy island beer. I mean…beer.”

“Already on ice next to the waiting table, my friend. Mr. Clayton made sure to call ahead with your preferred label.”

Ryker smiled and dropped his head with a chuckle. “Of course he did. I’ll be right out, Gerard.”

As Gerard left, Ryker continued to dress and take in the space. Everything was made to be easy, clothing arranged as complete outfits, then by style. Casual beach attire, swim trunks, suits, and clothing that landed somewhere between suits and casual beachwear. Eli had really planned ahead and made sure they were well prepared, assuming the same thoughtfulness and care went into Neily’s closet. Eli had lived on the run himself before and probably understood better than most what was at stake and what they were up against.

He appreciated his friends’ help because without it, keeping Neily safe and clearing her name would have been that much harder. Hell, even with Eli’s help, resources, and discretion, Ryker wasn’t sure how he was going to pull it all off. What he did know was that he’d die trying. Literally. He’d do whatever it took to clear her, to save her, even lay down his life if it meant saving hers.

As he left the room, he stalled, wondering which way he was supposed to go.

“What the hell is a veranda?” he mumbled to himself. “Does he mean patio? This whole place is surrounded by a big patio.”

Ryker shrugged off his own question and decided to head toward the heart of the house, where the main living or entertaining space was. He remembered seeing it as they came in. It was grand in size, with luxury furnishings, and most notable…the splendid view it boasted.
