Construction Steps

1. Align the four long cords (see Figure 1). Make an overhand knot 4" (10 cm) from the end using all four cords.

2. Work clove hitch knots for five rows (see Figure 2).

3. String four 2 mm beads, alternating colors for variation C.

4. Repeat steps 2 and 3 (represented by the *) nine more times.

5. Work clove hitch knots for five rows.

6. Make an overhand knot with all four cords.

7. With two strands of Color 2 held together and one strand each of Color 1, work the three-strand braid for 2 ½" (6 cm).

8. Thread a 3 mm metal bead onto the braid.

9. Make an overhand knot below the bead and seal with a flame (refer to Technique Overview: Sealing the Cord Ends with a Flame).

10. Repeat steps 7–9 on the other end of the bracelet. Make an adjustable sliding knot using the short cord, as shown on Technique Lesson: How to Make an Adjustable Sliding Knot.
