CHAPTER FIFTEEN

Damnfinito. Carrying a bag with her pet gear, Murphy walked beside Saxon out the side gate, onto the sidewalk in front of the Shadowlands. Beneath the swimsuit cover-up, her legs were still wobbling. Her insides felt tenderized…and so, so sated.

At least the pets, ponies, and littles had left. The event had closed a few minutes before, and there was no one to see her walk of shame. But had they heard her? “I screamed, didn’t I?” she whispered, feeling her face heat.

Saxon chuckled. “Sweetling, I think they probably heard you in Tampa.”

Oh dear god, she’d never be able to face any of the club members again. She let out a moan of unhappiness.

He bent and kissed the top of her head. “Murphy, this is a BDSM club. If the members thought play should be private, they wouldn’t be here.”

“Oh.” That was probably true.

“It seems you agree. In fact, despite your modesty, the thought of being watched turns you on.”

Her mouth dropped open. “No. No, it does not.”

“Yes, my sweet. It does.” He pulled her tighter against his side, his arm around her shoulders a warm comfort.

And she felt…cared for.

This sure wasn’t what she was used to, and she couldn’t seem to get her balance. Or maybe it was because he paid too much attention to her. Every time his perceptive blue eyes met hers, her sense of the world went all shaky.

But admittedly, she shouldn’t be with him at all. Guilt swept through her. What had she been thinking? “I shouldn’t have done this.”

“What do you mean by this?” He stopped halfway down the sidewalk.

“Sex. With you. I swear you fog my mind.” She shook her head. “I wasn’t going to see you again. I’d been avoi—” She shut her mouth hard.

“Avoiding me. Again.” He set his hands on her shoulders and turned her to face him. “Because of Everly?”

She looked away.

“Murphy?”

She sighed. “I only came today because Gabi wanted help with playing this joke on you. But…” Could the embarrassment get any worse? She’d done just what Everly said—offered him an easy fuck. “I know Everly doesn’t care if you fuck other women, but she’s still your girlfriend, and I’m not comfortable being a casual encounter for when you want…” Easy sex. Convenient sex. “…someone else. I’m sorry. I shouldn’t have come today.”

He was frowning. “My girlfriend? Everly? Where did you get that idea? Aside from her showing up at my house.”

“Besides her kissing you and asking you to take her to the charity thing?”

“Ah, right.”

Murphy sniffed. “As it happens, she also said flat out that she’s your girlfriend.”

“What the… When did she say that?’ His brows drew together. “Ah, after she conveniently got me out of the room. I see.”

Murphy blinked. What did he see?

“She lied to you, sweetling. We’re not together. At all.” He stroked Murphy’s cheek. “I told her upfront I don’t do serious. I took her out on three dates.”

Murphy raised her eyebrows skeptically.

His smile was wry. “Yes, and had sex, but until the other day, I hadn’t seen her for weeks.
