Place de l’Hôtel de Ville

From the cathedral stroll one block north along Rue des Jardins to the civic heart of Haute-Ville, the Place de l’Hôtel de Ville @ [map]. Dominated by the Monument Cardinal-Taschereau in the centre, it’s the scene of numerous live shows in summer. Facing each other on opposite sides of the square lie the edifices of the colony’s once-powerful Church and the home of democratic power in the city today – the Hôtel de Ville (City Hall) of 1883.
