When the hunting party met the guides hired by Captain Clemsen at the Susitna, the heads and skins of fox, brown bear, black bear, walrus, caribou, sheep, otter, porcupine, timber wolf, and moose all had to be loaded into bidarkas for the start of the trip home.

Cecily had apparently taken Miss Potts's advice, for she and Ralph were engaged and going hunting in Mexico. The Leader co-authored Two Dianas in Alaska, he and Herbert each writing alternate chapters. Although Herbert never revealed his identity, the Leader may have been C. R. E. Radclyffe,5 an Englishman who also hunted in Alaska and who wrote about the experience in Big-Game Shooting in Alaska (1904).

In 1913, Herbert was married to a commander of the Royal Navy, and she seems to have then stopped hunting. She did continue to write, authoring books for young readers as well as travel books, including one about her home, the Isle of Man. She was a member and officer of the Society of Women Journalists and, in 1931, was named an Officer of the British Empire.6
