Chapter Thirteen

JORDAN

“Mom, can you just listen and not say I told you so.” I rolled my eyes, still hurt by the shit with Daymond. I had been able to dodge my mom and all her questions and disappointment. Every time I saw her, just wasn’t the time to say anything. Now I had dropped Arianna off and the questions started.

“You had damn near a month to tell me, now you want me to be sympathetic?” She quizzed with a disapproving look.

“This why I didn’t want to tell you, ma.” I sighed. I was glad that Arianna was already sleep. I hated that I was forever crying about the shit Daymond caused. He really betrayed me in the worse way. I don’t think this pain could ever go away. For so long, I wanted to keep my little family together, but the shit was all a damn lie. He really did me dirty. No nigga has ever done the shit he did or even got close to do so. I really let my guard down and everything, and this nigga played on that.

“I’ve always told you to have a backup plan, Jordan. Now look, you’re homeless and carless. What are you supposed to do now?” She raised her voice, pointing to Arianna. I knew she was upset and this is why I didn’t want her to find out about all of this.

“Yuri said that I can stay with her and use her car, ma. I don’t want to depend on anyone, but I need help. I messed up and I can’t fix this by myself, ma. I get it, okay.” I fussed, wiping my tears away.

“I never wanted this for you. Now my granddaughter will suffer like you did, Jordan.” She took a deep breath sighing. I knew she was upset more so for Arianna, but how did she think I felt. I failed my own daughter. The last thing I wanted was for her to grow up without her dad in her life. I never created this mess, he did. Yes, I contributed because I should have never created a baby until I knew for sure that Daymond would do right by me and his seed. I couldn’t do anything about that now though. I had to hold my head high and move on. If I stayed stuck, I don’t know where I'd be.

“You think I did, ma? I literally have nothing to offer my daughter.”

“What is his family saying about this?” She inquired.

“I haven’t talked to them, but I'm pretty sure they knew about his other kids and wife.” I said matter of factly. I couldn’t even fathom the word wife because he really was living a double life. I should have seen the red flags, but I was so damn blind. Him always needing to be in the streets told a lot.

“Well, they owe you an explanation and some type of assistance for Arianna. I know they are giving it to the wife.” She stated.

“Mommy, it’s not their responsibility, it’s Daymond’s.
