The turning point in the eclipse of Flash and the rise of native video was a posted letter by the late Steve Jobs ("Thoughts on Flash") in April, 2010 (www.apple.com/hotnews/thoughts-on-flash/). This letter (in effect) sealed the decline of Flash as the delivery system for online video. The Flash Player strained mobile device capacity, with their limited processing capacity and finite battery life. And with Jobs' anti-Flash position staked out, the shift (see Figure 7-2) was on to native video.
