MagnetSVN
We're back down to more reasonable systems with MagnetSVN. This guy doesn't try to do everything; it does one thing, versioning documents, and does it well. Sadly, you are limited to Microsoft Excel and Office on Windows, but don't let that put you off. MagnetSVN offers full integration into the ribbon interface, so it really looks the part. As for the more technical stuff, as the name suggests, it integrates with SVN whether you are using a local or remote server. (You have the option to create a local repository while installing.) You get all of the standard SVN functionality, including committing/updating/comments/history and more, which you can do right from Word or Excel, so no need to leave the program, which is always good. You can see how MagnetSVN integrates into Word by looking at Figure 6-5.
