“Why are you hiding in the dark pantry?” Blake asked. “Why are you always running and hiding when I walk into a room?”

“I don’t know what you’re talking about,” Kaeden growled. He pushed past Blake and started stomping up the stairs toward the apartments.

“Kaeden,” Blake sighed. “What’s wrong?”

“Nothing,” Kaeden muttered.

Blake didn’t believe him for one single solitary moment. He’d been increasingly grumpy for the last few weeks. He was starting to grate on everyone’s nerves, not just Blake’s.

“Don’t lie to me.” Blake followed him up the stairs. “I know something’s been bothering you.”

“You wanna know what’s been bothering me?” Kaeden spun and loomed over Blake, only a step below him.

“Yes,” Blake looked up at him. Kaeden had always been taller than him, but this close, with him a step above, Kaeden practically looked like a giant. If he’d been looking at Blake with anything other than antagonist frustration in his eyes, Blake would have liked it.

“You,” Kaeden growled. “You bother me.”

And then Kaeden was picking Blake up and shoving him against the wall. His mouth was on Blake’s in a kiss that was all tongues and teeth. It was scary as fuck. It was hot as hell.

As Kaeden ground his hips into Blake’s, Blake’s wolf let out a little whimpering whine. And it was a whine of pure need. Of happiness at finally getting what he wanted. What he needed.

Blake practically melted under Kaeden’s touch. Except that he was a greedy bitch and just wanted Kaeden to touch him more. To feel all of Kaeden’s skin pressed against his.

He slipped his hands under Kaden’s robe that reminded him of that stint Kaeden had done as a mall Santa. He ran his hands along Kaeden’s sides and up his back. He groaned as his hands got to Kaeden’s wide shoulders.

God, he needed Kaeden to take him. To fight him. To subdue him.

And he didn’t particularly care if it was the man or the wolf that did it. Just as long as Kaeden made him his.

“Blake?” The outraged cry broke through the haze of lust that fogged Blake’s brain. Kaeden pulled away and looked down the stairs over his shoulder.

Hunter stood there at the bottom, looking up at Blake kissing… someone else.

Fuck.

“Oh, hey, Hunter,” Kaeden’s smirk held so much malicious glee in it that Blake’s heart plummeted.

“You’re an ass,” Blake said, shoving Kaeden off of him.

He practically ran upstairs as fast as he could. God, he hated men. All of them.

Sure, Hunter’s face had been full of hurt. But Blake couldn’t bring himself to care right now.

Because all he could see what Kaeden’s satisfied smirk.

But all he could feel was Kaeden’s hand wrapped around his throat.

It had been the best kiss of his life.

Dammit.
