I stared at Naima who stood there stuck after her mom cursed her out. Over the years, I’ve witnessed Nyeemah go off on her quite a bit, but I’ve never seen her mom this upset. I mean you could hear the anger in her voice and the hurt was written on her face.

I don’t know the reason of the argument and it didn’t matter because at the end of the day, she is her mom and deserves respect. I could see if she were like these ratchet moms out here who treated her like shit but it’s not the case.

“What’s going on Naima? Why were you disrespecting your mom?” I wasn’t gonna waste time tryna figure it out.

“I don’t know what happened.” I gave her the side eye.

“I’m serious. I mentioned the ring situation…”

“No, you blamed her for it.”

“Well she blamed me for getting in those sticky situations.” I limped away because she was being extra. I had a brace on my foot now and still refused to use the crutches. Even with the towels on them, they still hurt my underarms.

“You feel the same?” I turned and saw her arms crossed in front of her.

“Naima if you’re looking for me to have your back and say Nyeemah is wrong, I can’t.” I truthfully told her because everything her mom said, made sense. I’m not saying Nama did it on purpose, but she could’ve avoided a lot of it.

“Wait a minute. You think I put myself in those situations on purpose?”

“I’m not saying that at all. What I’m saying is, had you handled things differently and not used your I can fight attitude it may not have happened.”

“What?”

“I don’t care about your attitude Naima. Right is right and you had no business speaking to your mother like that.” She fell back on the couch.

“I didn’t mean to. I’m just tired of being paranoid.” I looked at her.

“You think everyone out here ain’t tired of the bullshit too? I’m being charged with a crime I didn’t even commit. Remi’s brother attacked his mother and almost killed her and now this man from your mother’s past, wants you dead regardless of the ring. You’re not the only one with problems.” I rolled my eyes because now she was pissing me off.

“I know Ivy. If I didn’t do things my way, I wouldn’t be in this.” I wasn’t comforting her. She knows better.

“Long as you know. Anyway, let’s discuss this crap with Ivan attacking his mother. You know Remi’s gonna kill him if their father doesn’t get him first.”

“I know which is another reason I’m nervous. Remi isn’t fully healed and...”

“Y’all fucking?” I asked.

“Excuse me!”

“Are y’all fucking?” I asked again.

“Yea but...”

“Then he’s fine. A man won’t strain himself during sex if he can’t take it. The pleasure won’t be there because he’ll be in too much pain. So again, if y’all fucking then he’s fine.”

“I guess. Are you ready to get married?” I smiled thinking about the day coming up. I was ecstatic to marry Cat and from what he says, he feels the same.
