This cannot be happening. This day started out so damn good, smiles, laughs, and conversation. I am not riding in the back of a got damn ambulance, while my sister, my best girl, is on a gurney looking like she’s knocking on deaths door. She looks like she went twelve rounds with Rocky, Karate Kid, and Jackie Chan. I’m hating myself so much right now. I should’ve walked with her. If I had, none of this would have happened.

“Miss. Can you tell me her full name?”

Wiping my tears from my eyes, I turned towards the female EMT. Looking at her, I got the distinct feeling that this was a last chance choice for her ass. Shaking my head to relieve those thoughts, to focus on the matter at hand.

“Nova Griffin, twenty-five years old, five-foot-ten, two hundred and thirty pounds. She isn’t allergic to any type of medication. She’s not an organ donor,” I answered all at once.

She eyed me funny.

I smacked my teeth. “Those are always the typical questions. Did I leave something out?” I snapped.

She flinched. “No, no, no I’m simply stunned by your calmness. Um, does she wear contacts?” she rushed out.

I cut my eyes at her, just barely stopping myself from reaching out and touching her ass.

“What the hell does that have to do with anything? She doesn’t have the best sight. She only wears glasses to read and when she works on her laptop or tablet. So, no she doesn’t wear contacts. Grey is her real eye color,” I relayed.

She sighed. “Okay, it’s simply an odd combination,” she mumbled.

“And why the hell is that? Because she’s dark skinned with grey eyes. Sweetheart there’s all kinds of funny shit mixed in our D.N.A. You do remember what the light skinned female salves were used for, don’t you? Things tend to show up generations later. You are truly one ignorant ass person and very unprofessional. How about you do what you’re getting paid for? With the way that I’m feeling, you’re one stupid comment away from needing oxygen your damn self,” I promised glowering at her.

She did the smartest thing and shut the hell up. I rubbed Nova’s hand, trying to soothe her, telling her that I’m here. She’s too quiet, it’s making me nervous.

“Sister, Nova, I’m here Boo. I’m not going nowhere. Please forgive me for letting you go alone. I will never do that ever again. Whoever did this to you will get theirs. I love you so damn much girl,” I let her know, letting the tears that I was holding back, began flowing again.

I placed a kiss on her forehead then prayed silently for her recovery. If only I could stand being around Star without wanting to bash her face in. That’s the true reason that I didn’t walk with them. Star is an opportunistic bitch. She’s like a female who fucks for a come up in reverse. I’m a thousand times sure that she planned to run into Nova, then convince her to pull her talentless artist out of the depths of mediocrity.
