CHAPTER SEVEN

KAI

The last two days have been absolutely thee longest I've had in a long time. Not only do I have to contend with that courtroom pit bull Marcella trying to make it so Dyer has to stay in prison for something he didn't do, but now I have to deal with keeping this secret between Christine and him until they figure out a way to break the news to Travis and Cory.

I'm not even sure what the big deal is, the both of them are grown. They should be able to do what the hell they want to do. I understand the whole stigma about her not dating anyone from the gym, but at this point they're all going to just need to get over it.

Christine has always been a pretty good girl, she knows what she's doing.

I stretch my neck and there's a knock on my office door. I groan and fist my hands on my thighs. The day never fucking ends.

"What?" I call out, the agitation clear in my voice.

Lisa, one of the paralegals from the courthouse, is at my door. I have my own private office, so I don't have to deal with people most of the time, but every so often people find their way over here.

It's not like I didn't already know the judge would uphold the bail promise, but I didn't want to walk into court flustered, not when I had to work with a snake like Marcella.

A sexy, intense, utterly mouth warming snake.

"What about my Client?"

"He's already been told and is at the courthouse waiting."

"Fine, thank you." I say, doing my best not to sound too dismissive. I'm never this stressed out before a case. I think it may have something to do with the fact that I couldn't get Marcella out of my mind all night long. Ever since that night she came over, I've been thinking about her in various different ways. None of which are because she's in the courtroom with me.

The paralegal leaves and I make myself busy getting whatever I need for the day. My cases are already packed and besides Dyers I have nothing else on my plate for the day. Hoepfullyonce I get through with today, I can go home and finally get some relaxation. Hell, instead of going home, I may even get over to the gym and spar a couple of rounds with someone. That'll make me feel better, for sure. After I make sure.

After I power down my workstation and grab my jacket, I walk out of my office and to my car.

Usually, the street I work
