Setting and Time Frame

A literary text has both a setting and time frame. A setting is the place in which the story as a whole is set. The time frame is the period in which the story is set. This may refer to the historical period the story takes place in or if the story takes place over a single day. Both setting and time frame are relevant to a text’s meaning because they help the reader place the story in time and space.
