Chapter 7

Lily

I looked at myself in the full length mirror with a mixture of appreciation and apprehension. I looked good, no not good, I looked fucking amazing. The full length deep green dress I was wearing hugged my curves perfectly. The colour brought out the green in my eyes that had been rimmed with black eyeliner to add to the dramatic look. The dress seemed to shimmer in the lights of the bedroom when I turned to admire myself. There was a split in the dress that ran right up to the top of my thigh showing the entirety of my leg, and still reached the floor despite the four inch jewelled stiletto heels. My make up, other than the eyeliner, was minimal with soft barely seen pinks and my hair was pulled into an elegant updo with a few strands hanging down in strategic places.

I looked stunning, but the apprehension in the knowledge that this wasn't for me. I had no choice in the matter. I hadn't even done my hair and makeup. The stylist turned up three hours ago with the outfit and the orders. It had all been planned and decided by him. Even thinking about Sebastian caused a hole in the pit of my stomach and I felt sick. Especially after this morning. Could he really do that? Could he trap me in a permanent contract with him? Would the Agency agree to it? The upsetting fact was that they probably would. If he offered enough money. And I knew he certainly had the money.

After Sebastian had issued his threat, before storming off, Anna had come back into the room carrying plates of hot food that just made me feel like I wanted to vomit. Her forced cheery nature made it clear that she had heard everything. It wasn't until a couple of hours later, when the untouched food had been cleared away and Anna had suggested I take a shower, that the weight of what Sebastian had said had crashed over me.

I needed to find a way out of this contract, and safely, before Sebastian was able to take away the only thing I had ever wanted in life, my freedom. I had grown up in the foster system after my mother decided that being a mother was too much hassle, pushed around from home to home and told where I was going. The invitation for the scholarship at Regents University had felt like a godsend to barely eighteen year old me. The chance to get a premium education would have meant that I could then start my life the way I wanted it. But it appeared that even that was planned for me. The comment from James Killinham last night, saying that he had been responsible for matching me with Sebastian in the first place, sent shivers down my spine. There were rumours about that school and the three exclusive clubhouses that seemed to rule over everyone else. I knew that Sebastian was meant to be a part of one of them, it was one of the reasons that I wanted to take a step back.
