“Paisley Anne, get your little behind out of bed right now.” Dax scowled down at her. He’d already given into her, five more minutes, twice and now intimately understood what she’d meant when she told him she wasn’t a morning person.

Paisley stirred, her eyes fluttering open to the sound of Dax's stern voice. Rubbing the sleep from her eyes, she blinked up at him with a mixture of innocence and drowsiness. He bit back a chuckle, keeping the firm scowl pasted on his face. Damn if she wasn’t adorable.

"Daddy," she murmured, her voice laced with a hint of protest. "But it's still early..."

Dax crossed his arms over his chest, a playful glint in his eyes contrasting with his firm expression. "Little girl, we've already had two 'five more minutes' and now you need to get up. If you chose not to obey me, I can find another way to motivate you out of bed," he chided.

Paisley pouted, her lower lip jutting out in a small pucker. Dax reached down, gently rolled her onto her side and applied two firm swats to her blanket covered behind, knowing it wouldn’t sting at all.

With a sigh, she threw off the covers and swung her legs over the edge of the bed. She looked up at Dax, her eyes shining with a mix of mischief and surrender.

Dax's stern expression softened, replaced by a warm smile as he watched her obediently comply. He approached her, reaching out to take her hand in his.

"Good girl," he praised. "Now let's get you ready for the day, my little sleepyhead."

“I told you. I’m not a morning person,” she grumbled. He chuckled as she looked forlornly at the bed. He made the right choice postponing sex. She needed every last minute of sleep last night.

With a gentle tug, Dax led Paisley toward the bathroom, their footsteps echoing softly in the quiet morning. He guided her to the sink, turning on the tap to let the water run warm.

"Okay, sweetheart, time to wash your sleepy face." Dax reached for a soft washcloth and squirted a small amount of her gentle face cleanser onto it. He gently caressed her skin with the cloth and cleansed away the remaining traces of sleep. Once her face was fresh and clean, Dax turned his attention to her hair, gently untangling any knots with his fingers. He reached for her brush, the bristles gliding smoothly through her hair as he carefully brushed it, taking his time to make her feel cherished and cared for.

Dax led her back to the bedroom where he’d taken out her dress during one of her, “five more minutes of sleep,” and laid it out for her.

He guided her through the process of getting dressed, offering assistance where needed.

“It’s exactly how you like it, a little coffee with your cream,” Dax said, handing her a travel mug. During the last six months, they’d spent a lot of time together and Dax took mental notes.

“You remembered!” She took the mug and grinned. After taking a long swig, she wiped the back of her mouth with her hand.
