Completed in 1873, Eastern Market was designed by a prominent local architect, Adolph Cluss. Since then, it has served as a neighborhood meeting place and as a fresh food market with produce, cheese, meat, and fish. A variety of prepared food vendors are also popular. On weekends hundreds of local artists and crafters set up booths on the plaza.
