Chapter Ten

Alpha’s DNA desires had nearly taken him over completely, on seeing Sala’s page in the menu and then reading through the things he might have her and Ava do for his pleasure. As he watched the redness spread across her face, though, another urge took hold—that new affectionate urge so intimately linked with sex-intertwined-with-power and yet in some ways so very different. He… he sympathized with her: the word came rising from his cultural memory, and it found a chord in an ideation very important to the Collective.

Co-suffering. Compassion. Alpha’s human mind formulated the idea, which had lain latent in the data acquired from inhabiting human hosts but now was felt by a member of Collective Seventeen for the first time as an emotion evolved into the binary-reproducing DNA of the human species. Co-suffering represented the keystone of the Collective’s aggregation of the willing strange loops of the multiverse, and Alpha had just found it in his relation to the concubine Sala.

“Wait,” he said, for the girl Ava had begun to move on hands and knees toward the couch, and Sala had turned in that direction.

“Sir?” Sala asked.

“Talk first.”

Beta’s eyes opened and met Alpha’s, querying clearly whether the senior breakout meant to interrupt his brother’s pleasures with a meeting of some kind, but though they would have to confer with Gamma soon to compare experiences, Alpha didn’t mean to do that now. The first stage of those experiences hadn’t yet passed. He had no need to stop Grela and Fredera from worshipping the enormous blue phallus rising from Beta’s lap, especially since Alpha found the sight so diverting.

No, he wanted to talk to his girls. He spoke to them. “We will go to the bedroom instead.” Then he did speak to Beta, for the need of some planning did exist, he remembered. “Do not fuck Grela’s vagina or anus yet. She is yours, but she is the only virgin, and we must share her.”

He heard Grela give a little gasp around her mouthful of hard penis. Again he felt compassion, though to a lesser degree than he felt it for Sala.
