Built in the late 1800s, the Chautauqua Boys’ Club was frequented by males ages 7 to 16. Games, sports, and other competitions occurred in the indoor area, out on the playground, on the athletic field, and at the lakefront. Competent and dedicated counselors from all over the country and outside its borders—many of them former club members themselves—returned each year. Under their able supervision and instruction, children could participate in a variety of activities while their parents had the convenience of attending daily lectures and classes.
