CHAPTER FOUR
LOGAN
I'd just had the best sex of my life.
Being with Mara blew every past encounter out of my mind. That was saying a lot but damned if it hadn't been. The. Very. Best.
Part of my brain, the part that'd stolidly remained independent and too transient to settle down, felt detached. As if it were slowly evaporating, the longer I looked at Mara. She propped up on her elbow, shoving her loose golden hair away from her face to glare at me. I didn't know what, or how, or why this sudden change happened. Just that it was happening.
She was more than I'd expected. Everything I didn't know I'd been missing.
All I wanted to do right now was bury myself between her legs. Show her, without words I couldnât find yet, how she made me feel. I wanted to taste her. Drape her legs over my shoulders and spend hours licking and sucking and playing. Drown in the sounds she made that drove me insane.
The fantasies I'd had when I first saw her? Nowhere near the real thing. When I told her at least a hundred more times, I hadn't been joking. I wonder if Mara realized my comment about claiming her wasn't in jest. Sure, I'd played up the mountain man thing, even though her comment had been glib.
A special forces friendâs wife wrote romance, apparently heavy on the sex scenes. She'd told me once how Mountain Men erotica was a huge hit. At the time, I'd found the idea amusing. When Mara called me that, it was like flipping a switch. A caveman switch may have been more accurate description.
A possessive need to dominate Mara roared to the surface. No way was I waiting to take her. The idea of getting to know her after our rescue, of taking her out on a few dates before explaining she belonged to me was incredibly idiotic. To be honest, it never even crossed my mind.
Every part of her body and mind belonged to me, and I was taking it all.
Her response? Fucking hot. Even more so was the unconscious trust she gave me. She wasn't the type to screw a stranger as a 'thank you, mister, for saving me.' I'd met that type more times than I could count. Or the kind who simply had a hard-on for soldiers.
Mara wasn't that type. Plus, her response was all in. Intense. The way she responded to my touch was like entering a fireworks explosion. She wanted me as much as I wanted her. This went way beyond chemistry. She had to know this was more than simple chemistry.
She was mine.
Unfortunately, reality kicked a great big hole in my fantasies - trapped in a cold cave with limited supplies. Mara had asthma and no inhaler. I had enough food for one person for three days, but not enough water.
My team was excellent. They'd pick up on the distress signal and get things rolling. A day to get a rescue party up here - too risky to start excavating in the dark.
