1. A cube has 6 equal sides so all you have to do is take that number and multiply it three times like this:
V = (s)(s)(s).
So for a cube with sides of 10in, the Volume would be:
V = (10in)(10in)(10in) â 1000in3
2. For a rectangular prism (remember the formula is V = lwh)
Find the volume for a prism with a length of 12in, a width of 5in, and a height of 3in.
All we do is plug in all three of these numbers into the formula and multiply.
V = (12in)(5in)(3in) = 180in3
3. For a cylinder (formula V = âr2h) with a radius of 6.1m and a height of 15m, what would the volume be?
Let's plug ârâ = 6.1m and âhâ = 15m into the formula and calculate.
V = â(6.1m)2(15m)
V â â(37.21)(15)
V â 558.15m3â
