Lion Mask

Lions and tigers and bears, oh my! Kids will love that this Lion Mask has a touch-and-feel mane and, after the craft is made, the kids can create a short skit that involves the other masks in the book. I can see the plot unfolding already: Super Maxwell (wearing the duct tape Superhero Mask from earlier in this chapter) and Leo in the Lion Mask save Pete in the Panda Mask (Chapter 2) from the giant with his scary Monster Feet (Chapter 4)!

Paintbrush

1 paper plate

Paint (I used orange)

Hole punch

Ruler

Yarn (I used orange and light yellow)

Scissors

Colored paper (I used yellow and orange)

Glue

Black marker

Packing tape

Paint stir stick

Use a paintbrush to paint the front side of the paper plate orange. Let the paper plate dry according to package instructions.

Once the plate is dry, use your hole punch to punch holes every inch or so around the perimeter of the plate.

Use a ruler to measure and cut 1 (9 1⁄2") piece of yarn per hole that was punched. It’s best if all of the yarn is the same length. I alternated between 2 different colors of yarn.
