CHAPTER SIX

ARES

Inspiration had struck late Thursday night.

Ares had set and reset his plans for Friday several times, always coming up with a better idea only to see the whole setup of the room and shake his head.

No.

It wasn't right.

It needed to be better.

It needed to be perfect.

He went back to his office and sat down with her dossier.

Penny had mentioned quite a lot in her interview with the KNK staff. She'd obviously been on the phone much longer than he had.

She'd had more to say.

He admired her courage to allow them to disclose her answers with her match.

Her match.

The words made him warm all over.

Hard and hotter in one place in particular.

Sitting back in his chair, he propped his feet up on the safe he kept beside his desk and read through her answers again.

The printed pages were almost fitted to his hands, he'd held them often enough.

Her dream vacations. She'd given the KNK representative a very short list and the precious information that she'd never been out of the United States. His eyes roamed over the top three.

Spain.

Scotland.

England.

He had a feeling that the list was short and focused because of proximity, but he'd start with those.

He'd focused so much on his business to get to the top of his game, but there were other things he wanted to focus on now.

Someone else.

Ares turned his head toward the paperwork on his new purchase. An import from the UK.

He had big plans for it, but for tomorrow, he had something else planned.

Kicking back from his desk, he got up and put the dossier away in the safe, and locked it.

He moved over to the wall and lifted the clipboard off of the wall and smiled, the tension in his shoulders melting away.

He had a plan.

He was going to give Miss Penny Lane, the woman of his dreams, her first damn vacation.

Leaning over his desk, he tapped a few keys on his computer and saw that he had a good supply of high-gloss automotive paint that was going to make the centerpiece of his date tomorrow night perfect.

He was going to make sure that she had a night she'd never forget.

So good that she'd never want anyone else in her life, because he was sure that he didn't want anyone but her for the rest of his.
