The plane was in front of the hangar as they pulled into the driveway. Gabe watched Kat’s excitement as she leaned forward.

“They’re back!”

“Looks like it.” He made her wait, however, until Will arrived with them at the house before letting her loose to give them a welcoming hug.

“Lorina!” Kat hurried over as fast as she could manage.

“Sweets!” Lorina’s arms were around her in an instant.

Ted’s hug was next. “How’s my girl?” he asked.

“Good!” She glanced from one to the other of them. “I’m so pleased you’re here at last!”

“I’ll help get your things out and loaded into the jeep,” Gabe informed them. “I checked on the cabin this morning, and it looked like everything was ready for you. I’ll need to show you the alarm system and how to work the generator in case the power goes out. And a few other things.” He waited until the ladies were inside before turning to Ted. “Any difficulties getting away?”

“No,” Ted said, setting down another suitcase. “But I must tell you, we heaved a sigh of relief when we felt the plane lift off. We’re still concerned for Kat, but we’re so glad she’s here. She looks good, Gabe. She looks as if she feels well, and her eyes seem to have a sparkle we haven’t seen for a while.”

Gabe smiled. “Thanks, Ted. I’m glad to hear you say that. And glad to have you two here, too.”

Ted looked toward the house. “How are the nightmares?”

Gabe followed his gaze. “There have been some, but Shelley seems to think they’re slacking off a little. By the way, you can start picking out the plans and supplies for the greenhouse at any time. Kinsey, Terry, and I will help set it up. You can direct the project and let us do the heavy stuff.”
