BREATH PRACTICE #1
Jamie Renee Lashbrook, a friend and breathwork practitioner, says:
âWhen we engage in the breath with intention, we are accessing the inherent erotic energy that is constantly birthing life all around us. Love is literally in the air. This ambrosia mixes with the oxygen in our blood and can reach into all of the places that forgot how to receive pleasure. Breath is life. Life blossoms from the erotic.â
She offers this practice:
You can take a seated or lying-down posture. Place one hand on your pelvic bowl and one hand on your heart. Begin breathing in for a long count of four through your mouth. Visualize this ambrosia rising from the earth through your pelvis up your spine to your crown. Hold for a count of two. Exhale through the mouth, bringing that ambrosia down your front body for another count of four. Let it circle around your breasts, spiral around your navel, and back through your pelvic bowl. You are creating a circle of pleasure around you from earth to sky and back. Do this for 10 to 20 minutes. Breathing through the mouthâcan you taste the life in each breath?
You can quicken this cycle by reducing the count to two and eliminating any pause between the inhale and exhale. This will accelerate your response systems. Please tune in to the aforementioned body sensations that may indicate that an emotional release is occurring for you. If this happens, take time to allow the release to complete itself and be sure to find a way to nourish and nurture yourself afterwards.
Complete this practice with three audible exhales while envisioning roots growing down from your base into the earth beneath you. Sit in stillness for a moment, envisioning the fruition of your creative work or asking how this energy wants to be channeled if you do not have a particular project in mind.
